There are four types of licensing

1. Regular Foster Care

2. Kinship
This is for families and friends that already have children in DCS custody placed in their home. There are many benefits to becoming licensed.

  • We attend CFT meetings and court hearings with families
  • We help explain the dependency process
  • We visit the home weekly, then monthly
  • Adoption is easier and faster for licensed kinship homes
  • Provide training for family
  • Provide respite services to prevent burnout
  • Financial reimbursement for licensed family

3. Respite
You can become a respite provider to provide care for children in their foster homes. This licensing is a simpler process. You can become licensed as an individual and we do not have to license your home or anyone you live with.

4. Adoption Certification
This is for families interested in adopting children in DCS custody and in need of a permanent home.

Pre-service training and licensing go hand in hand.

While attending the training you will also work on licensing.

 Home Study
Part of the licensing process is for the agency to write a biography-like report. We will come out to your home and get to know you, your family, and your home.

Paperwork
We will not lie, there is a lot of paperwork involved in becoming a licensed foster home.
We will be here to navigate you through the entire process.

Home inspection
We will come out to your home and help you prepare for the inspection that will be conducted by the State. Some of the requirements are
Fire detector in every room
Carbon monoxide detector
Pool fence required If you are taking children five and under.
Lock up all of your medicines
Trigger locks on firearms and ammunition locked separately
